Varunee Recording Group/BlissRecordings artist ElectroOrganicSoundSystem (EOSS) has finished its sophomore full-length record "Roots Wreck Remix." An album of experimental electronic dance music, "Roots Wreck Remix" is the follow-up to ElectroOrganicSoundSystem's 1996 underground sensation "Herbanism."

Combining the artists' studio wizardry while paying homage to the reggae, jungle and hip-hop lineage that has come before, EOSS flavors the album's ten tracks with its own "wreckstep" style of drum&bass beats.

"I really like the term 'wreckstep,' it's a good description of the frantic, chaotic beats on the album," says EOSS' Jake Trussell. Describing the creative process for "Roots Wreck Remix," Trussell says: "What we do is mix our favorite genres and styles together -ambient turns to dub, hip-hop turns to jungle - then we tweak the mix with various effects. The result: all the parts emerge recomposed into a new sound, one that goes to eclectic and strange places."

"Roots Wreck Remix" is already being added to RPM playlists at college radio stations nationwide, including WZBC (Boston College), WRLC (Rutgers University), KAMP (University of Arizona) and WERS (Emerson College) to name a few. David Wildman, writing in the October 29 issue of The Boston Globe describes ElectroOrganicSoundSystem as: "ground-breaking musical experimentation."

EOSS' debut release, "Herbanism," was well-received when it was released in 1996. It also garnered critical acclaim; Alternative Press' Justin Hampton wrote: "It's great to hear excellent domestic electronic music that covers a lot of ground without sounding forced... ElectroOrganicSoundSystem reminds us not to forget those Americans currently mastering the art of noise."

In the summer of 2000, EOSS participated in the Free Techno Tribe Noise Circus, a seven-city national tour that featured an array of electronic and experimental artists, including K.ktus Tribe and Zipperspy. Following a recent appearance with Lee "Scratch" Perry and Mad Professor at The Grassroots Affair in Tucson, AZ, EOSS will be playing select cities throughout the fall and into 2001, including the South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, TX.

The WIRE magazine describes "Roots Wreck Remix" as "fibrous Jungle and post-Orb dub overlayed with grainy electronics."

A review of "Roots Wreck Remix" in Deeper Magazine went on to say: "This delightfully hard grinding album, textured with ambient and atmospheric sounds, escapes all genres by pulling pieces from every corner of the underground music scene."

History of the Future says: "Killer mashup of far-out samples, dub reggae, techstep and/or d&b. If the Orb retired, adopted a son & decided to update his software, perhaps we could make out the shape of this release somewhere in that ganja cloud. Truly excellent creations."

EOSS consists of Jake Trussell and DJ C. As ElectroOrganicSoundSystem, they have recently done remixes for Hrvatski, DJ Flack, and Moosaka, as well as collaborating with Cul De Sac on their upcoming album. DJ C also teams up with Flack in a turntablist project called DuoTone.

"Roots Wreck Remix" is available in North America through Surefire Distribution (Somerville, MA), Scratch Recordings & Distribution (Vancouver) and Ozone Distribution (Montreal).
